LANCASTER DISTRICT HOMELESS ACTION SERVICE (LDHAS)
LDHAS has supported approximately 215 clients over the past year, with a variety of issues related to homelessness, housing, welfare benefits, addiction and mental health. Despite limited resources, they successfully housed 76 clients, assisted 9 to embark on a detox programme and 11 to find paid work. The need for support is increasing year on year.
LDHAS is planning several events over the next couple of months to raise awareness and much-needed funds:
* Saturday 18 November - annual sleep out on Lancaster Town Hall steps 9pm till 7am.
* Friday 8 December - collection in Sainsbury’s foyer, 10am till 4pm.
* Saturday 9 December – Lancaster street collection 10am till 4pm.
* 5 days over the Christmas period - food, warmth, company and overnight secure shelter offered to people who are homeless, living alone or in housing poverty.
