Sadly we didn't win any seats in the Lancaster by-elections yesterday, but we came second in University & Scotforth Rural ward with 24.4% of the votes.
Our candidates, Martin Paley and Jan Maskell, were both excellent, and will make great Green Councillors one day. Thank you to them, and to everyone who helped with leafletting and canvassing, or behind the scenes with producing election literature and videos.
Our campaign succeeded in raising awareness of the Green Party on campus, as well as highlighting issues such as Bailrigg Garden Village and plastic pollution (e.g. we installed in the main square some giant sculptures of Poseidon and an octopus - made out of plastic collected from the banks of the Lune - which was a great talking point!).
