The North Lancashire Green Party has selected three candidates to stand for election in the consitutencies that cover our area - Wyre and Preston North, Morecambe and Lunesdale, and Lancaster and Fleetwood.
Cllr Jackson, a former head teacher and founder of the Claver Hill community food project, has been a councillor on Lancaster City Council for 6 years and currently holds the cabinet portfolio for housing.

I have lived in Lancashire for thirty years, and worked as a teacher. I believe in the power of Lancashire communities where people look after each other and stand up for what they believe in. Over the past ten years I have been in the centre of local issues, working hard as a charity volunteer, an environmental campaigner and an elected city councillor. As your Green MP I will fight for a future that’s fair and just, protecting our livelihoods and our environment from economic uncertainty and climate change.
Bare resident Chloe Buckley has been selected by the North Lancashire Green Party as their parliamentary candidate for the Green Party in Morecambe and Lunesdale at the next general election.
Chloe, a university lecturer, lives in Bare with her family and has been an active member of the Green Party for the past six years, protesting against fracking locally and supporting the party in the recent local elections where the Green Party took ten seats.
Chloe said,
I live in Morecambe and work as a university lecturer. Our area has been neglected by the government and the current MP, David Morris. As your Green MP, I will fight to secure the Eden Project with a zero carbon commitment and guaranteed jobs for local people. I'll campaign for more funding for our local schools and other public services, which have suffered through a decade of austerity. It's essential that government, businesses and individuals take urgent action on the climate crisis, and I will make this my top priority.
Local resident and parent Ruth lives in the area and has been an active member of the Green Party for over six years.
Ruth said:
It is time to put the lives of people in Wyre and Preston North above corporate greed. As your Green MP I will fight for decisions about development to be made and upheld at the local level, safeguarding people’s wellbeing and our environment. I strongly oppose fracking and gas storage. Overdevelopment is ruining the character of our communities, increasing flood risk, causing traffic mayhem and putting pressure on our overstretched public services. I will campaign for flood risk reduction through sustainable land use, including restoring forests and wetland areas.
The Green Party has recently seen big gains in vote share and electoral successes in the area, winning ten council seats on Lancaster City Council in May, and the North West’s first Green MEP, Gina Dowding, who was elected earlier this year to represent residents across the North West.
