Green Councillor, Lucie Carrington, has resigned due to the need to focus on her business, the Herbarium cafe, following the pandemic restrictions.

Jack (pictured here with Councillor Caroline Jackson) lives in Bulk ward, on Kershaw Drive, off Quernmore Road. He has worked for over a decade as a software engineer, and has recently set up the Lancaster Cargo Co, the city’s first electric cargo bicycle delivery service. He also supports NHS vaccination centres as a part-time volunteer vaccinator with the St John Ambulance.

On his selection, Jack said:

“I love Lancaster, and it’s a privilege to be selected as the Green Party’s candidate in this by-election. Lucie Carrington has done a fantastic job, and it would be an honour to work on the City Council alongside hardworking Councillors Tim Hamilton-Cox and Caroline Jackson.

“As a Green Party candidate for Bulk, my priorities will be dealing with litter and fly-tipping, which have proved a challenge during the pandemic, as well as protecting and preserving our green spaces, playgrounds and public spaces. I’m very keen to tackle rat-running through our neighbourhoods as plans proceed with the County Council’s transport strategy for changes to the city centre.”

Councillor Jackson, Co-Leader of the Green Group on the City Council said:

“We are delighted that Jack is standing to be elected. He is an outstanding campaigner and will make a great Green councillor for  Bulk ward. Jack has already proved himself as hard-working and skilled in his work on road safety including traffic and 20 mph campaigns. He is passionate about biodiversity and preserving green spaces.  Jack is already a local figure on his fantastic cargo bike, and we look forward to him being a real force for change in the ward. On behalf of the Greens I want to thank Lucie for her contribution to our work over the past two years.”
