Public meeting to discuss Bulk housing plans - 15 November

7 November 2021

Bulk ward's Green councillors are hosting an online meeting to discuss how local residents might want to respond to the planning applications for new housing off Quernmore Road (from Bellway Homes for 151 homes on the site pictured below) and Grab Lane (Story Homes for 167 homes).

Since Atkins conducted traffic modelling in 2006, no new work has been done to assess the predicted and actual impact of the additional traffic on Quernmore Road and routes feeding from it. Since 2006 (though completions didn't start until late 2013) around 590 new homes have been built off Quernmore Road, against the 440 originally envisaged in the plan that Atkins was modelling for.

There is also the potential of increased flood risk on the road at the junction of Grab Lane and Quernmore Road; and to properties on Guidem Park. This is in addition to heightened concern of increased flood risk from residents downstream along Burrow Beck in John O' Gaunt and Scotforth East wards.

The meeting will be held on Monday 15th November, 7.30 p.m. til 9.00 p.m. and everyone is welcome. If you would like to attend, please register here to get the Zoom link.
