Greens celebrate success in expanded bus service number 18. Four years late.

1 March 2017

Green Councillors  Gina Dowding and Tim Hamilton-Cox celebrated the expanded bus service number 18 with members of the Bus User Group, which was set up by Green councillor Abi Mills.
The service will start on March 6th 2017.
County Councillor Gina Dowding said:
"We are delighted that the funding from the developers that was available since 2011 for a package of sustainable transport measures has  finally been put towards a better bus service for residents living on the former Moor Hospital site as well as to Williamson’s Park.  It is a pity it has taken the Labour administration at County Hall nearly all of its 4 years in office to put this service on.

"It is  due to the perseverance of local Green ward councillor Tim Hamilton-Cox with support from  the Bus User Group set up by Green City Councillor Abi Mills, who have all consistently demanded that the money be spent on the sustainable transport measures it was intended for, that we finally have this service."

The service will run every half hour from 6.55 am until 6.15 pm from the bus station . Residents can now download the Stagecoach Bus App so that they can get real time information on this and other local services ( such as the number 10 in East and the number 9 in South East?) .
The display at the bus Station is also due to be hooked up to real time soon - so that rather than displaying the timetable passengers can see actual times the buses are leaving and arriving.
