1. CAROLINE LUCAS SPEAKING IN LANCASTER ON MONDAY 18 SEPTEMBER

North Lancs Green Party is hosting a series of public meetings this autumn/winter, addressing the question ‘Why Green?’ from different perspectives and policy areas.

The series starts with two excellent speakers on the theme of fracking, energy security and climate change, on Monday 18 September at Lancaster Town Hall. Doors open at 7.00 pm for a 7.15 pm start. Admission is free and everyone is welcome. Our two speakers are:

Caroline Lucas MP, Co-leader of the Green Party. Caroline served as a member of the European Parliament from 1999 until she was elected as the UK’s first Green MP in 2010 (representing Brightn Pavilion).  She is a passionate campaigner on a broad range of issues, and has won many national awards including 'most ethical politician' and 'most influential MP'.

Danielle Paffard. Danni has played a key role in a range of grassroots movements for social and environmental justice, including corporate tax avoidance (through UK Uncut) and anti-fracking camps (through Reclaim The Power). She currently works for 350.org, coordinating the rapidly growing fossil fuel divestment campaign in the UK.

2. JOHN WHITELEGG SPEAKING IN LANCASTER ON TUESDAY 10 OCTOBER

Former Green Councillor John Whitelegg is visiting Lancaster on Tuesday 10 October, and will give the next in our series of ‘Why Green?’ talks.  The theme will be transport and air pollution. 3.   GREEN MONDAYS AT PRESTON NEW ROAD FRACKING SITE

‘Green Monday’ events continue throughout September and October, with support from the Green Party’s leadership team, as well as from trade unions and environmental campaign groups such as Greenpeace and Friends of the Earth. The next two Green Monday events are:

Monday 18 SeptemberCaroline Lucas (Green Party Co-Leader and MP) and  Stephen Hall (President of Greater Manchester Association of Trade Unions, & Chair of Unite) who will be speaking about the One Million Climate Jobs campaign.

Monday 25 SeptemberJenny Jones (Green Party member of House of Lords) will be the main speaker - of particular relevance is the fact that she has had many years' experience of overseeing the work/behaviour of the Metropolitan Police!!

Please come and support these peaceful protests if you can.

If you can’t make any of these days, you could go on any other weekday – there’s lots happening every week and you will be welcome whenever you go. The postcode is PR4 3PH, on the #61 bus route from Kirkham to Blackpool, 15 minutes from Kirkham-and-Wesham station. There is a café and toilets nearby.

If you would like to share a car (as driver or passenger) please contact Emily Heath (07419 209964 or emilyheath@phonecoop.coop) and she’ll try to put you in touch with other car-sharers.

NLGP has been very active and visible in this campaign. Several of our members have been arrested for taking direct action (obstruction of Cuadrilla’s site entrance) having exhausted all other ways of trying to stop rural England becoming a polluted industrial gas field. Lancashire said no, but the Government isn’t listening, so we need to say it louder!

Lots of stalls by local artists and craftspeople, homemade food in our veggie/vegan cafe, live music all day from wonderful local musicians, and kids can visit our Green Santa in his grotto.
