The Four Horsemen Of The Anthropocene

5 October 2017

Monday 9th October, 4pm – 6pm+ in LEC, Training Rooms 1 & 2 at Lancaster University. All welcome.

Global Futures event with Stewart Wallis, Honorary Professor at the Institute For Social Futures, Lancaster University, and a former Director of the New Economics Foundation.

The Anthropocene is the widely accepted name for the geological epoch dating from the commencement of significant human impact on the Earth's geology, atmosphere and ecosystems. The four housemen that stalk us are 1) The threat of the 6th mass extinction 2) Widespread poverty and economic insecurity 3) Dangerous levels of inequality and 4) Human insignificance. Stewart will describe the magnitude and nature of these risks and then address how we can overcome them. He will argue that what is required is a Values Revolution and a New Economic System.

Cheese and wine at the end (optional). For catering purposes please let Michelle Bland know if you will be attending the event via email: <mailto:isf@lancaster.ac.uk> isf@lancaster.ac.uk
