Lancaster’s Green Party criticises council leader over letter to support extension of Heysham nuclear power station

On 18 January, Cllr Phillip Black, the Labour Party Leader of Lancaster City Council, wrote a letter to the district’s two MPs and the Government supporting a bid by the energy company EDF to further extend the lives of both Heysham 1 & 2. Jack Lenox, our parliamentary candidate for Lancaster and Wyre, has branded this reckless, for power stations anow operating significantly beyond their original life expectancy, and criticised both this political pressure being brought to bear, and it being done without Labour consulting their coalition partners.

By-election to be held after Castle Ward Green Councillor Shelagh McGregor resigns

Due to the care needs of family members, Castle Ward Green Councillor Shelagh McGregor has had to move away from the area, leading to her resignation as a Lancaster City Councillor. Shelagh is delighted that Castle Ward Green Party has selected local resident and Young Green Co-ordinator Izzy Metcalf-Riener to stand when the by-election is called.

New Bus Shelter for Lancaster train station forecourt

The dilapidated bus shelter on the Lancaster train station forecourt has finally been replaced following intervention by County Cllr Gina Dowding
