Emily Heath - Green Candidate for Carnforth & Millhead in May 2nd By-Election

12 April 2024

Emily Heath is the Green Party candidate in the Lancaster City Council by-election in Carnforth & Millhead on Thursday 2 May.

Emily is an experienced Councillor and community campaigner, having been one of the first Greens elected to Lancaster City Council in 1999. She was a City Councillor for 12 years, before stepping down to focus on her career as a university teacher of Earth Sciences, and various voluntary roles. She now works part-time for an environmental organisation.

Emily successfully campaigned to protect Freeman’s Wood from development and fundraised for a local charity (of which she is a trustee) to buy the land and manage it for the benefit of local people and wildlife.

Greens have been winning elections across the Lancaster District for the last 25 years. In Warton ward, just next to Carnforth & Millhead, Green Cllr Sue Tyldesley won in 2022 with 66% of the votes, and was re-elected in 2023. Only last month, Green candidate Izzy Metcalf-Riener won a by-election in Castle Ward with 65% of the votes.

Emily said: “Residents appreciate that Greens work hard for local residents all-year-round and keep them informed through regular Green View newsletters. I pledge to do this for Carnforth & Millhead if I am elected on 2 May to join the 21 other Greens on Lancaster City Council.”
