Jamie Payne

Jamie is a graduate in Politics and International Relations at Lancaster University. Before that he worked as a primary school teaching assistant. He has played a key role in getting the Lancaster University Green Party student society up and running since 2021, despite the challenges of pandemic lockdowns. He stood as a candidate in a City Council by-election in the University and Scotforth ward. Nationally, he is involved with the Young Greens, currently as the Green Students' Committee Co-Convenor.

Jamie was appointed in August 2022 as our Lancaster Campaign Organiser, and Volunteer Co-ordinator, working 2.5 days per week until the end of May 2023 to help with capacity-building in our local party and targeting to win more seats in the 2023 Lancaster City Council elections. He was also the Internal Communications Co-ordinator and a member of the Executive Committee, and stood as a Candidate for the Upper Lune Valley.

Outside of politics, Jamie is a musician, primarily a saxophonist. He runs bands and plays with local musicians. He is also a keen runner.

Jamie says:

"I’m proud that our party puts social justice and the environment at the heart of all its policies, which can be seen locally through our track record of campaigning against unsustainable development in South Lancaster and in the urgent action taken in response to the climate and ecological emergency."
