Alison Gordon

Alison has lived in Bare with her family since 2021. She is married to a local minister in the United Reformed Church and has three grown-up children.  She loves the area and describes the view across Morecambe Bay as a changing piece of artwork, continually inspiring in its beauty. Having moved to Lancashire from Surrey she has enjoyed discovering the landscape through walking and swimming. She also enjoys kayaking and cycling. She participated in the Cross Bay Walks in 2022, raising funds for the charity Money for Madagascar.

Alison has participated in beach cleans and litter picking in her previous homes in Surrey, East and West Sussex.  She set up a parent and toddler group at one of the churches she attended in Sussex and a youth club at a second church.

Alison has volunteered at a local community garden and enjoys being creative with her own garden. Alison feels passionately about environmental and social justice and believes our immediate environment has a big impact on our well-being from day to day.

Alison works as a Support Worker in Heysham which she finds very rewarding.  Her previous employment includes working for the Youth Hostels Association which she loved for the ethos of its outdoor pursuits and the enthusiasm and variety of guests.  She has been a self-employed piano teacher for thirty years.

Alison loves the positive message the Green Party bring in their manifesto, sharing hope for the future in caring for the vulnerable in society and putting the health of nature as top priority as we face the growing effects of climate change. She believes the New Green Deal proposed by the Green Party which covers all aspects of modern living is a fresh and promising program that can truly transform communities for the better.

Alison was a Westgate Ward Candidate for Lancaster City Council in 2023.  Alison feels much more could be done to improve local services in the Morecambe area, particularly with public transport. Her prime concern being the number of cars that pass the front of primary schools which are located by busy roads, leading to health concerns for young children becoming adversely affected by pollution.
