Cai Wingfield

Cai Wingfield is a researcher in cognitive science at Lancaster University and a happy parent of two.

Beyond his academic work, which involves investigating how language and physical sensations contribute to our understanding of concepts, Cai has been involved in green activism at the university.  He was part of the foundation of the university's climate-emergency working group for staff and students, which successfully campaigned to secure the university’s formal declaration of a climate emergency, and commitment to achieve carbon neutrality.

Cai has also volunteered with Extinction Rebellion, consulting to establish election practices for the UK-wide strategy team, now included in the XR UK constitution.

Cai has lived with his family in Lancaster for nearly 6 years and has felt very welcomed by his neighbours and community.

Cai was the Heysham Central Candidate for Lancaster City Council in 2023.
