Kathy Bashford has lived in the Lancaster District for over 25 years, and currently lives with her 2 daughters at the eco-cohousing in Halton, of which she was a founder member. She was the Sustrans ‘Bike It Officer’, working with local schools to increase cycling, based with the City Council on the Cycle Demonstration Town project for 7 years. She currently teaches children to cycle, or to improve their cycle skills, in and out of schools with ‘Pedal and Scoot’.
She has a PhD in hydrology, and has previously worked for the Environment Agency, Lancashire Wildlife Trust, the University of California in Berkeley, and the UK Cohousing Network.
She has been a member of the Green Party for most of her time in Lancaster, and has also, alongside her daughters, had involvement with actions for Lancaster Youth for the Environment (LYFE), Dynamo, and XR.
Kathy was a Westgate Ward Candidate for Lancaster City Council in 2023.
