Sarah McGowan has lived in the Lancaster district for fourteen years and co-runs a small, independent and successful wholefood shop, Single Step Co-operative, in Lancaster.
She has been involved in various environmental and social justice initiatives, including the successful community-led campaign to ban fracking in England.
Outside of running a business and volunteering for the community, Sarah enjoys hiking and cycling – spending lots of time in and around Halton, Nether and Over Kellet, Aughton, Gressingham and Arkholme.
Sarah was elected to Lancaster City Council representing Halton-with-Aughton and Kellet Ward, in 2023.
