Lancashire County Council Candidate Wyre Rural East

Caroline moved to Lancashire 12 years ago from Oxfordshire. Initially to Hyndburn, and then to Wyre in 2023.
Caroline was heavily involved as a volunteer with the Accrington Community Committee (ACE), supporting and arranging community events across the Hyndburn district. She became Leader for Hyndburn Macmillan and with volunteers raised the sum of over £150k in 4 years, making sure these funds were brought back to the local community.
In 2021 Caroline was elected as a Councillor for the Barnfield Ward. During her 3-year term, she was Deputy Leader on the Climate Working Group. With the Conservative Leader, she was able to convince the CEO to employ an additional staff member to deal with residential issues. This included Insulation, Utility Bills, Net-zero reductions on Council buildings and tackling the Climate Change with Eco Events, buying land for Nature Reserves, and implementing a Tree Planting program yearly until 2026.
In 2022 Caroline became the Campaign Manager for Malcolm Peplow and Gaye McCrum the two Greens standing for the East Whalley Ward in the Ribble Valley Borough Council. Both candidates were elected – becoming the first Green Party Councillors in the Ribble Valley area.
After her 2023 move to Wyre, Caroline was not eligible to re-stand, but campaigned in Hyndburn and succeeded in getting a Green Party Councillor elected.
For the 2024 General Election, Caroline was parliamentary candidate for Ribble Valley on behalf of East Lancashire Green Party while also spending most of her time supporting our campaign to elect Jack Lenox to represent Lancaster and Wyre, focusing on the Wyre area.
Caroline joined the NLGP Executive Committee as Wyre Area Co-ordinator, and has been working on increasing the volunteering membership in Wyre, getting to know the community better and build our electoral presence in Wyre for future success.
Vote Green – Vote Caroline Montague For Wyre Rural East
Standing for the Green Party in the Lancashire County Council elections, Caroline would be proud to represent the people of Wyre Rural East with values of fairness, sustainability, and genuine community care. Caroline is not a career politician – she is a professional committed to raising standards, listening to people, and creating real conversations. Her campaign is about leadership with integrity, community with heart, and a greener way forward with action, not rhetoric.
As a County Councillor Caroline would work to:
1. Restore Local Trust
Reconnect local people with local power through transparency, respect, and open conversations.
2. Raise Standards in Our Streets and Services
Cleaner roads, faster response times, and a push for funding that reflects the pride residents take in their surroundings.
3. Support Those Too Often Forgotten
Carers, pensioners, and working families deserve better. She will speak up and stand up for them—loudly and consistently.
4. Bring Integrity Back to Local Politics
Caroline pledges to publish activity reports, host regular open forums, and stay accountable—not just at election time.
5. Invest in Young People’s Futures
Caroline will advocate for better youth services, skill-building opportunities, and safe spaces that inspire rather than punish.
6. Protect Our Green Spaces
Caroline stands firmly against unsustainable development. She will work to protect and enhance local nature, parks, and shared green areas for all.
