Wilson Colley

lancaster City council Candidate for John O’Gaunt

Wilson is in his first year at Lancaster University studying Law with Politics, and has a keen interest in politics of all levels. He is president of the local Young Greens, based at the Lancaster University campus and recently participated in the ’30 under 30′ training course put on for Young Greens nationally, for valuable insight into local governance and campaigning. Wilson has been active in Palestine campaigning, particularly via a student activism group. Outside of politics, he is interested in nature, especially within his native Lake District, and in local culture and history.

He believes in honesty, equality and commitment to ideals, and the importance of local governance and local democracy – how vital it is to give a voice to local communities as they understand first-hand the struggles and issues they face.

Wilson has been getting stuck in engaging with the community in John O’Gaunt, organising and working hard at litter picks and alley cleans, reporting dangerous potholes, knocking on doors and talking to local people.

Wilson says:

“Throughout the ward I’ve been speaking to voters on the door step finding out what issues matter and how we can help. If I am elected I promise to be close to the community and its issues in order to highlight their needs and issues and act towards resolving them as best as I can.

“This Labour government has been cruel, weak and ineffectual, attacking the vulnerable whilst protecting the privileged and continuing our country’s decline. Every Green victory is a statement that the people have had enough, that we want real change.

“Vote Green on May 1st for dedicated and hardworking councillors who will work to improve your community.”
